Make a splash this summer at the Veteran Echo Lake Family Watersports Day on Friday, July 25. Hosted by DREAM Adaptive Recreation, this fun-filled event invites veterans and their families to enjoy a day on the water at beautiful Echo Lake. Activities include waterskiing, wakeboarding, tubing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and pontoon boat rides. Lunch is provided, and all standard or adaptive equipment is included. Family members are welcome, but pre-registration is required.
Join Undammed Distilling Co. for a special Whiskey Tasting event on July 26, at VFW Post 6774. Enjoy tastings from 5:00–7:00 PM, followed by live music from The Ragsdale Trio, a veteran family band, from 6:00–9:00 PM. The evening also features a 50/50 raffle supporting the VFW’s Veteran Relief Fund and a live auction for an Undammed Whiskey Barrel. This event is open to the public.

Join Healing Heroes for their Horsemanship Clinic for Heroes, a complimentary three-day event designed for active military, veterans, and first responders. Hosted by Veterans Overwatch, this clinic takes place August 22–24, at the Big Hole Valley Association in beautiful Wisdom, Montana. Participants will engage in hands-on horsemanship activities—all from the ground, with no riding or prior horse experience required. Lodging, meals, and all activities are provided at no cost. This is a unique opportunity to connect, heal, and grow in a supportive and peaceful setting. Space is limited and registration is required.
Rev up your engines for the SW Montana Veterans Poker Run on Saturday, August 23, 2025—open to bikes, trucks, hot rods, and all vehicles! The ride starts in Deer Lodge at 9:30 a.m., with kickstands up at 10:30 a.m. Riders will visit five stops and return by 5:00 p.m., with winners announced at 5:30 p.m. After the ride, enjoy a community BBQ, live music by Dan Henry, raffles, a silent auction, and family fun—including a bounce house! Dinner is $15/plate ($10 for kids) at the Tri-County Fairgrounds. Bring a lawn chair and join the fun!
Get ready for the 7th annual Food Truck Battle on the Yellowstone, happening Saturday, August 23rd, at the Armed Forces Reserve Center! Over 50 food trucks will compete for top honors, alongside cold beer, live music all day, and a family-friendly area with free kids' activities. All proceeds—10% of food truck sales, and 100% of beer and gate profits—will support veterans. Admission is just $5, with free entry for kids under 12, veterans, and active military with ID. A free shuttle will run from designated parking areas—watch the event page for details. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or in advance via EventGroove (non-transferable—avoid resales for your safety).
Be a part of the 2025 Little Shell Elders and Veterans Powwow on August 23–24 at the Little Shell Powwow Arbor in Great Falls, MT. Grand entries are Saturday at 1 PM and 7 PM, and Sunday at 1 PM. Enjoy a weekend of dancing, drumming, and honoring elders and veterans. Dance categories span all ages and styles, with cash prizes and special contests, including veterans’ specials and the Loud Thunder Memorial Highway Giveaway. Be a part of this years Yellowstone Valley Walk Out of the Darkness, hosted by American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. This fundraiser will take place on September 21st at Will James Middle School, and all are welcome to participate. AFSP is asking for people to participate in the walk free of charge, volunteer to help this event go smoothly, as well as sponsors for the event. Join SPARC and BAFVTF for their 36th Annual McGuire Memorial Conference on Family Violence on September 25–26 at the First Interstate Bank Operations Center in Billings, MT. This year’s keynote presentation, hosted by the Stalking Prevention, Awareness, and Resource Center (SPARC) will explore the dynamics of stalking, its intersection with other forms of victimization, the use of technology, and best practices for investigation and victim safety planning.

This important event focuses on building connections and advancing suicide prevention efforts across the community. The Northern Hills Veterans Appreciation Fair is taking place on Saturday, November 8, at the Sturgis Community Center. Guest registration begins at 10:30 a.m., with an opening ceremony at 11:00 a.m. in the auditorium. This free event welcomes all veterans and their families to connect with vital services and enjoy a day of support and appreciation. From Veterans Service Officers (VSOs) and VA services to outdoor recreation, service dogs, employment assistance, housing support, education, and a flu clinic, there’s something for everyone. Lunch and refreshments are included, and the event runs until 2:00 p.m.

The Unattended Veterans Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, July 16, at 12:00 PM at Yellowstone National Cemetery. This solemn event ensures that no veteran is forgotten, honoring those who have passed without family or loved ones. The ceremony includes a formal posting and retiring of the colors, a reading of veteran names, prayers, and a respectful transport of urns to the columbarium. Volunteers from local veteran organizations will participate, and the public is invited to pay their respects.
