The Montana Angel Initiative

The Montana Angel Initiative is making a real difference for individuals struggling with substance use disorder across the state. Backed by Governor Gianforte and led by the Department of Public Health and Human Services, the initiative connects law enforcement, treatment providers, and community organizations to create compassionate pathways to recovery—not punishment.

Through this collaboration, individuals seeking help can walk into a participating law enforcement agency or community partner site, speak with trained officers or staff, and be connected directly to treatment and recovery resources. It’s a program built on understanding, dignity, and hope.

Eddie, a proud member of VNN’s team and now the Montana Angel Initiative network, has played an instrumental role in helping veterans take their first steps toward recovery. His dedication to building trust and bridging the gap between law enforcement and treatment services reflects the heart of what the Angel Initiative stands for—meeting people where they are and guiding them toward lasting change.

If you or someone you know is ready to seek help, you can visit a participating location or call the Angel Initiative hotline at 1-877-264-3585. To learn more, visit dphhs.mt.gov/BHDD/angelinitiative.
