At Veterans Navigation Network, we believe no one should have to walk their journey alone. The Navigator Program is our community-based approach to suicide prevention and veteran support — designed to connect people with resources, guidance, and hope before crisis strikes.
Navigators act as trusted guides, helping veterans, families, and providers chart a clear path through challenges that can feel overwhelming. Just as you wouldn’t explore unknown terrain without a map, Navigators ensure no one is left to navigate life’s struggles on their own.
The program is built on three tracks:
Veteran Track – Fellow veterans who understand military culture and walk alongside veterans to connect them with healthcare, benefits, and community support.
Civilian Track – Training for friends, family members, coworkers, neighbors and community members to recognize warning signs, start conversations, and offer timely support.
Provider Track – Education for healthcare workers, educators, first responders, clergy, and others to strengthen cultural competency and improve connections to care, with specific training on lethal means safety and veteran specific behavioral health.
Through these three tracks, the Navigator Program builds a stronger safety net across Montana — ensuring that civilians, veterans, and providers all play a role in saving lives. Together, we can reduce suicide, restore purpose, and strengthen the bonds of community and camaraderie.
Each training has a cost, but participants never see it — VNN, our partners and donors cover the expense so the training is completely free for you to take.
